The medieval Jewish commune of Tui had a great importance in the city, leaving a wide cultural inheritance. One of the most remarkable characteristics of the Tudense Jewish community is its integration within the city, coexisting with the Christians without registering social conflicts during the Middle Ages.

The most important example is shown in the cathedral, in whose Gothic cloister a recorded menorah or seven-branched candelabrum is kept, testimony of the cooperation of the Jewish community of the city with the political and economic power, the Cabildo and the Bishop, for build in the thirteenth century one of the architectural gems of Tui as is its cloister.
